Xiaomi Mi Band 5 launched globally without NFC, SpO2 tracking

Xiaomi Mi Band 5 features

  • Xiaomi has launched the global version of the Mi Band 5
  • The fitness tracker will be available in the UK and Europe.
  • The international model lacks NFC, SpO2 tracking, and a voice assistant.

Xiaomi announced the global availability of the Mi Band 5 at its smart home ecosystem showcase today. The Mi Band 5 will sell in the UK and Europe as the Mi Smart Band 5. Just like the Mi Band 4, the new fitness band will not officially be sold in the United States. However, interested buyers might soon be able to import the international variant of the fitness tracker through platforms like Amazon.

Nevertheless, the global version of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 aka Mi Smart Band 5 remains largely unchanged compared to the Chinese model. That said, there are a few features Xiaomi has left out on this international version.

It comes with the same 1.1-inch AMOLED display, 14-day promised battery life, 11 exercise modes, 65 theme options, women’s health tracking, heart rate monitoring, and more. But sadly, it leaves out NFC, the rumored Alexa voice assistant, as well as SpO2 or blood oxygen tracking. These features will be limited to the Chinese version of the wearable for now.
