  • Poco has confirmed the existence of the Poco X3.
  • The phone could get a 120Hz display and quad cameras.
  • It could arrive as soon as September 8.

Update: August 28, 2020 (2:00AM ET): Poco’s Product Marketing Manager and global spokesperson, Angus Kai Ho Ng, has posted another teaser of the Poco X3 to Twitter, this time revealing the phone’s photography chops and front design.

The executive has confirmed that the Poco X3 will feature a 64MP primary snapper at the rear with an ultra-wide-angle lens too. No other specs were revealed, but we do get a good look at the device’s display which seemingly includes a punch-hole selfie camera. What looks like a side-mounted fingerprint sensor is also visible below the volume rocker along the Poco X3’s right flank.

Earlier this week, the executive also tweeted a teaser for the new phone mentioning its name and four possible designs.

All the different design possibilities teased by the Poco executive show a device with a quad-camera setup. They also broadly match what we previously saw in an FCC listing of the device. Leaked specs covered in the original article below suggest that the Poco X3 will get four cameras at the back, led by the aforementioned 64MP sensor.

There’s no other official information available, but as suggested in our coverage below, the Poco X3 is expected to land in just a few days. Read on for more.

Original article: August 26, 2020 (12:59 PM ET): Poco is rumored to be launching its first truly original phone soon, and now it’s clearer what that might entail. MIUI Turkiye has posted a since-pulled leak (preserved by Ishan Agarwal) for the Poco X3 that reportedly showed both the phone and key specs.

Much like the Poco X2, the X3 would be a mid-range, all-screen device that boasts above-average features in key areas. It would only have a Snapdragon 732 chip (no G-series part here), but you would get a 6.67-inch 120Hz display and a rear quad-camera array that included a 64MP sensor. A 20MP front camera would handle selfies.

You’d also get the previously hinted-at 5,160mAh battery and 33W fast charging. There’s no mention of RAM or storage.

If the report is accurate, the Xiaomi-owned brand would launch the Poco X3 on September 8.  The pricing is still unknown, but the X2 sold for an equivalent price under $300 in India. We’d expect aggressive pricing for the X3 as well, although there are no guarantees it will remain just as affordable.

This will be an important phone for Poco regardless of the exact cost. The X3 is unofficially poised to be a direct rival to the OnePlus Nord. Its processor wouldn’t stack up well against the Snapdragon 765G in the Nord, but it would have a faster display and a larger battery. You might have a tough purchasing decision ahead if you’re in a market where both devices are available.
