Asus introduces new Zenbooks and more at CES 2021

Asus ZenBook Duo 15

  • Asus has announced four new laptops at CES.
  • They are part of the ZenBook, VivoBook, and TUF series.
  • The laptops are mainly aimed at professionals as well as gamers.

At CES 2021 Asus has already given us several compelling announcements around the ROG brand, but that’s not all Asus has up its sleeves. The brand took the wraps off several new laptops aimed at professionals, gamers, as well as everyday users who demand a bit more from their devices.

The first one is the ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582), which features a secondary display the company calls ScreenPad Plus. It sits just above the keyboard, offers 4K resolution, and sports an auto-tilt mechanism that automatically raises the rear of the display by 9.5 degrees for improved readability. The secondary display is supposed to take your productivity to the next level, although not everyone will find it useful.

When it comes to power, the device packs the Intel Core i9 processor under the hood along with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU. This means it should handle just about any task you throw at it with ease. Other specs and features include 1TB of SSD storage, a 4K display, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a stylus that comes in handy for designers and other creative professionals.

Asus Zenbook Duo 14

If you’re looking for something a bit smaller, less powerful, and slightly cheaper, the new ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482) may be more up your alley. It also sports a secondary display like its bigger brother that works well with the main 14-inch Full HD panel. It’s powered by the Intel Core i7 processor and comes with the Nvidia GeForce MX450/Intel Iris Xe GPU.

The battery is rated at 70Wh and should be good for around 17 hours of use, according to Asus. The laptop is thin (16.9mm), light (1.6kg), and designed with mobility in mind. It doesn’t come with a stylus in the box, so you’ll have to buy one separately if you need it.

Asus Vivobook S14

Next up is the VivoBook S14 (S435), a 14-inch laptop that may not have a secondary screen but is still powerful enough to handle demanding tasks. It features an Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris X graphics, and 16GB of RAM. There’s enough storage for the average user thanks to the 1TB PCIe SSD. The laptop is quite compact, offering a screen-to-body ratio of 90%, and weighs just 1.2kg. It’s also equipped with a few Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and a microSD card reader, among other things.

TUF Dash F15

The last new Asus laptop announced at CES is aimed at gamers and is called the TUF Dash F15. The display sports a refresh rate of up to 240Hz and a response time of 3ms. There’s a Thunderbolt 4 port on board that allows you to connect things like external GPUs, while the battery provides for more than 16 hours of video playback. There’s no shortage of power available, as the laptop packs an Intel Core i7 processor under the hood along with a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU.

The TUF Dash F15 is also quite robust despite its slim profile. Asus claims it’s resilient against everyday knocks and bumps as well as extreme temperatures, which allows you to use the laptop in a bit harsher conditions.

Pricing and availability for all four laptops have not yet been revealed. We’ll make sure to update this post once we hear more on this topic, so make sure to stay tuned.
