- iOS 13.6 out now, brings Car Key feature, Apple News Plus Audio content, and more: Apple released iOS and iPadOS 13.6 to eligible iPhones on Wednesday. The update brings Apple’s new Car Key feature (announced at WWDC 2020), a toggle for customizing software update downloads, a new Symptoms section in the Health app, and a ton of Apple News and Apple News Plus features.
- Apple also released WatchOS 6.2.8, macOS Catalina 10.15.6, and tvOS 13.4.8.
- Claims open for iPhone users affected by Batterygate: If you were affected by Apple’s “Batterygate� issue back in 2017, you can now file a claim that could potentially net you $25. In order to qualify, you need to have owned an iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, or iPhone 7 running at least iOS 10.2.1 (for iPhone 6 and 6s units) or iOS 11.2 (for iPhone 7 models) before December 21, 2017. $25 isn’t a lot of money, especially considering a normal battery replacement usually runs $79.
- Softbank mulling sale of Arm Holdings: Softbank is reportedly exploring a full or partial sale of Arm Holdings, which it bought four years ago for $32 billion. Apple has licensed technology from Arm Holdings since 2006 for its A-series chipsets, and is planning on ramping up that partnership as it shifts to Arm-based Macs going forward.
- Apple, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and other popular Twitter accounts hacked: On Wednesday, a variety of high-profile Twitter accounts, including Apple’s official account, were hacked via a cryptocurrency scam. We’ve explained how this Twitter hack happened right here.
- iPhone 12 series to sport smaller batteries than iPhone 11 series? Rumor has it, Apple’s iPhone 12-series batteries might have lower capacities than the iPhone 11 series. The rumored capacities are 2,227mAh for the iPhone 12, 2,775mAh for the iPhone 12 Max, 2,775mAh for the iPhone 12 Pro, and 3,687mAh for the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
- Here’s how you might control your Apple Glasses: Apple patented (via 9to5Mac) a way to control its rumored AR glasses through a series of blinks, eye movements, and stares.
- Apple TV Plus nets new Justin Timberlake, Idris Elba movies: Apple TV Plus is getting a new football movie called Palmer, starring Justin Timberlake. No release date has been announced. Deadline reports Idris Elba will produce series and films for Apple’s service via his Green Door Pictures production company. No details on the series have been reported as of this writing.
- Ted Lasso trailer is out now: Apple released the first trailer for Ted Lasso, a sports comedy film executively produced and starring Jason Sudeikis, which is due out on the service August 14.
