Google has finally released the Pixel Buds app on the Play Store indicating that the Pixel Buds 2 aren’t far behind. The new app is only meant for Google’s second generation true wireless earbuds and can be downloaded on any Android device upwards of Android Marshmallow.
The Pixel Buds app lets you set up the new Pixel Buds and control features like Adaptive Sound, in-ear detection, find device, Google Assistant, and spoken notifications. It’ll also help you track the battery status of each individual bud, as well as the charging case.
Interestingly, the Pixel Buds app is already baked into the Bluetooth settings of Pixel phones. Once you get the new earbuds, all you’ll need to do is open Bluetooth Settings on your Pixel and tap the gear icon next to “Pixel Buds.
For all other Android phones, you’ll need to download the app separately from the Google Play Store. You can check out some screenshots of the new app below.
Meanwhile, the Google Pixel Buds 2 are finally on sale as expected. The earbuds are now listed on B&H Photo for $179, but there’s still no shipping date. Ideally, they should have been listed for sale on Google’s own web store first, but it just asks you to join a waitlist in for now.
