It looks like another big name is hopping into the Android TV dongle space, as a listing has popped up for a Xiaomi Mi TV Stick.
The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick first appeared on retailer GearBest. While the listing doesn’t feature a price for the streaming stick, the $80 price does show on up the retailer’s search page. The cost of the device could be a placeholder used on the search page, with the actual price coming out closer to the device’s launch, though.
It looks like the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will be running the same specs as the previously released Xiaomi Mi Box S. The stick has the Y2 version of the Amlogic S905 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage, and a Mali-G31 GPU.
We might need to take these specs with a grain of salt. The portion of the listing that mentions HDMI 2.0 also calls the device the “Mi Box S, which means this could be just a copy and paste from the previous device until GearBest has updated information. That mention could also be a typo, and these specs may be correct.
The listing mentions some other essential features such as 4K HDR support, DTS-HD and Dolby Stereo Sound, and dual-band Wi-Fi.
The $80 price listed in the search results is higher than the Xiaomi Mi Box S, which retailed for $59 at launch. It’ll be interesting to see if that ends up being the final price for the new Xiaomi Mi TV Stick and how buyers respond to seeing a smaller device with what could be the same hardware for $20 more.
