- Xiaomi has launched the Mi TV Stick in India.
- The streaming device retails for Rs 2,799 or ~$37.
Xiaomi’s new Mi TV Stick manages to combine most of the core functionality of the Mi Box into a much smaller form factor. The device debuted in Europe last month, and now it’s India’s turn to get the device.
The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick plugs directly into your TV’s HDMI port (akin to a Fire TV Stick), bringing Android TV 9.0 and the Play Store to your existing TV set. In terms of core specs, the device offers a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage.
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like storage expansion is an option here. Furthermore, the streaming stick tops out at 1080p/60fps video output, so those hoping for 4K quality will need to look at other streaming devices.
Nevertheless, the Xiaomi stick also offers Data Saver functionality, Google Assistant integration, Chromecast functionality, dedicated buttons for Netflix and Prime Video on the remote, and Dolby/DTS surround sound support.
The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick will be available for Rs 2,799 (~$37) from Friday August 7 at noon. Participating retailers include Mi.com, Mi Home stores, Flipkart, and several offline retailers. What do you make of this new device compared to other streaming gadgets in India?
