True wireless earbuds have been available for a few years, but Apple essentially cornered the market when it released the first-gen AirPods in 2016. The AirPods Pro were an even better entry into the true wireless space in 2019, giving nearly every competitor a run for its money.
If you’re an Android user, or simply don’t like the AirPods Pro for whatever reason, there are plenty of viable alternatives in early 2020. Google just released its second-gen Pixel Buds (which we just reviewed) and spoiler alert: They’re good. Really good. And probably the best AirPods Pro competitor you can buy if you’re on Android.
New Google Pixel Buds review | Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus review
Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Plus earbuds are also fantastic, providing long battery life, good mic quality, and a compact build. They’re also cheaper at around $150.
Not all earbuds are created equally, though. If you’re buying earbuds solely for use while working out, the audio experts at SoundGuys say the Beats Powerbeats Pro are the ones to… beat.
If you could pick one pair of true wireless earbuds, which would you choose? Would you stick with the AirPods Pro, go Google with the new Pixel Buds, or get something a bit more affordable like the Galaxy Buds Plus? Personally, I’m happy with my Jaybird Vistas, but if I had to choose a new pair I’d probably try out the Pixel Buds. They look very comfortable.
