  • Samsung’s TM Roh says the company will announce five ‘power’ devices at Galaxy Unpacked.
  • The Galaxy Note 20 series is expected to headline the August 5 event.
  • You might also see the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Buds Live, and Galaxy Watch 3.

Samsung will have much to show at its Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5.

Mobile division President TM Roh has confirmed that the company will announce five “power devices during the virtual presentation. He didn’t provide specifics, but did hint at earbuds (“in your ears) and a smartwatch (“on your wrist) in addition to smartphones.

As it stands, there are many clues as to what to expect. The star of the show should be the Galaxy Note 20 series, the latest generation of Samsung’s pen-toting flagship phone. It’s rumored to be coming in 6.7-inch standard and 6.9-inch Plus/Ultra variants, all of which would have flatter displays than the Note 10 family as well as prominent camera bumps. These camera arrays could include a 108MP main sensor on the Plus and Ultra, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and (at least on the Ultra) a 13MP periscope cam for long-range shots.

You could also expect features inherited from the Galaxy S20 range, including the Snapdragon 865 chip, 12GB or more of RAM, and an in-display fingerprint reader.  There may also be larger batteries (4,300mAh for the base model) and a minimum 256GB of built-in storage.

What else, other than the Note 20?

Samsung’s plans beyond the Note lineup could be more exciting. The company has already teased a next-generation foldable, most likely the Galaxy Z Fold 2, for the event. It’s rumored to be a subtle but welcome evolution of the original with a much larger 6.2-inch external display, a 120Hz 7.7-inch internal display, and camera technology that may be shared with the Note 20.

There should be some wearables, too. The Galaxy Buds Live would represent the next generation of Samsung’s true wireless earbuds with a “bean design, active noise cancelation and built-in fitness tracking. The Galaxy Watch 3, meanwhile, could update Samsung’s top-end smartwatch with a slightly smaller case than the original watch (with comparable displays) and features borrowed from the Watch Active 2. You might see blood pressure monitoring and ECG functions in addition to expected GPS and heart rate features.

Android Authority will of course be reporting on all the announcements as they happen, so stay tuned.
