Update, May 4, 2020 (12:15 PM ET): You can now get the Samsung Galaxy A51 in the United States as an unlocked device. It will work on pretty much every major carrier and it won’t tie you to one of them.
As an added incentive, the purchase of an unlocked Samsung Galaxy A51 directly from the company will get you a free set of Samsung Galaxy Buds. Read on for more details!
Original article: The Samsung Galaxy A series is the mid-range family of Android phones from the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer. The series has been a big hit around the globe but consumers in the United States have barely seen any of them. That changes this year, as many of the phones — including the terrific Samsung Galaxy A51 — are either here or coming soon.
While the Samsung Galaxy A51 is certainly no Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, it still delivers pretty much everything a smartphone user needs at a much, much more affordable price. That includes a huge display, a quad-lens rear camera system, a giant battery, and plenty of internal storage.
Below, you’ll find all the info you need on getting the Samsung Galaxy A51 in the United States. If you’ve never purchased a mid-range smartphone before, we highly recommend giving this a look — you might be surprised at how much phone you get for how little you’ll pay for it.
Samsung Galaxy A51: Where to get and for how much
While there are carrier-branded versions of the Samsung Galaxy A51, you can also choose to buy it unlocked. This will allow you to use the phone on pretty much any carrier and move from provider to provider at will. Samsung itself sells all the different variants, making it a great place to shop. However, Amazon.com also has the unlocked variant.
For a limited time, no matter which outlet you use to buy the unlocked Galaxy A51, you’ll get a free set of Samsung Galaxy Buds, the company’s first set of true wireless earbuds (a $110 value).
Conversely, you can also go to a supported carrier directly and buy it there. Just keep in mind that they will be locked to that specific provider and some will offer deals that the others won’t. Below are your options as far as that goes.
Verizon
Verizon has been selling the Samsung Galaxy A51 since April 2020. It costs $399 if purchased outright or $16.66 per month if paid in 24 monthly installments. If you are a new customer or add a new line to your existing account, you can get a massive discount on the phone and pay just $10 per month for two years, or a total of just $240 ($160 off).
AT&T
AT&T started selling the Samsung Galaxy A51 in May 2020. It costs $399 if purchased outright or $13.34 per month for a 30-month installment plan. As of now, the carrier is not offering any special deals or incentives. Keep in mind, though, that you can order the AT&T version of the Galaxy A51 from Samsung.com and take advantage of the free Galaxy Buds offer.
Sprint
Sprint started selling the Samsung Galaxy A51 in April 2020. It costs $399 if purchased outright or $10.00 per month if purchased using a Sprint Flex 18-month lease. After 18 months, you can either trade the phone in for a new lease or buy it outright via a one lump payment of the difference, or split that out over another six months.
Xfinity Mobile
Xfinity Mobile is Comcast’s mobile carrier, which is an MVNO of Verizon. It opened pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy A51 on May 1, 2020, with general sales beginning on May 8. It costs $399 outright, but if you open a new line and choose to pay monthly, it will slash $100 off the price. This brings the monthly cost of the phone to $12.50. There is no discount if you choose to pay in full for the phone.
