The Google Pixel 4 series is available in Just Black, Clearly White, and Oh So Orange, but a prototype device has apparently surfaced online bearing a hitherto-unseen color scheme.
A purported Pixel 4 XL prototype is listed for sale on Chinese auction site Taobao (h/t: XDA-Developers and Twitter user akes29), and it shows a gray colorway. Check out the image below.

Other noteworthy details gleaned from the image include Verizon support and Android 10. But otherwise it seems like your standard Pixel 4 XL.
The phone seems to be a legitimate device after we ran the displayed IMEI number through a couple of IMEI checking utilities. But as XDA points out, there’s every possibility that the seller may have swapped out a black, white, or orange Pixel 4 XL cover in favor of a third-party gray back.
Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be the first time we see an unreleased colorway for a previously released smartphone. OnePlus showed off a rather fantastic gold colorway for the OnePlus 7T in November 2019, while also confirming that it was one of “dozens of color options considered for the device.
