It’s barely been a week since launch, but the Pixel 4a is already charting on Amazon’s Best Sellers lists.
Spotted by Android Police, the Google phone is currently second to the Samsung Galaxy A20s as Amazon’s top unlocked smartphone in the US. It’s currently sold out on the retailer’s website, but there are plenty of other places to snag one.
Although it’s not clear just how many devices were in stock in the first place, the Pixel 4a is seemingly continuing the momentum of Google’s previous budget smartphone successes. The Pixel 3a did pretty well on Amazon too and launched in a variety of international markets, while the Pixel 3a XL is currently the best-selling unlocked phone on Best Buy in the US. The Pixel 4a is currently in second place on that particular chart.
Google sold 7.2 million Pixel devices in 2019, according to data from analysis firm IDC, but it’s unclear if the company will again hit those heights in 2020. In a year marred by the coronavirus pandemic and slowing smartphone sales, the company also pulled its Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL devices well early, less than a year after they made their debuts.
In any event, the new phone is $50 cheaper than the Pixel 3a, and our own David Imel thought it was Google’s best phone in years in his Pixel 4a review. So the odds aren’t completely stacked against the Mountain View company.
