  • OnePlus Launcher is getting a unified search feature.
  • Called OnePlus Scout, the feature will let users search across their device and the internet.
  • The feature is rolling out to users in India.

A nifty unified search feature is now arriving on OnePlus Launcher. Dubbed OnePlus Scout, the addition is intended to make spot searching easier on the company’s devices.

Spotted by XDA-Developers, OnePlus Scout will let users search address books, music libraries, or photo galleries from their home screen or app drawer. Some basic arithmetic skills are also provided, while app shortcut support will point users to tasks available within apps. Scout will also let users search for online content including restaurants, weather forecasts, or news updates.

The new version of OnePlus Launcher (version 4.7.2_200818175549) will also give users the option to pop-up Scout immediately after opening the app drawer, which is a nice addition for those who don’t always want to reach across a massive screen for the search icon.

The OnePlus Launcher update is now rolling out to users in India, but there’s no word on worldwide availability. Additionally, those who can access it will be greeted with terms of use, privacy policy documents, and permission requests before Scout can be accessed.

OnePlus Scout’s inclusion should pair nicely with OnePlus Launcher’s June update, which included Quick Search gestures and faster app switching.
