OnePlus isn’t generally considered at the top of the pile when it comes to camera quality, with the likes of Google, Huawei, and Samsung usually ranked ahead of it. But recently leaked OnePlus 8 Pro specs point to a phone with impressive camera hardware in theory.
Now, company CEO Pete Lau has posted OnePlus 8 Pro ultra-wide camera samples on Twitter, alongside snaps from an unnamed flagship phone. The inference is that the brighter photos with less noise belong to the upcoming OnePlus device.
Ultra wide that can get ultra close.

Lau’s caption of “ultra wide that can get ultra close” also suggests that you can crop in on the ultra-wide shot and still have good quality images.
Previously leaked OnePlus 8 Pro camera specs allege that the new phone has a 48MP IMX586 ultra-wide camera, matching the Oppo Find X2 Pro. So the company might be using pixel-binning and/or its Nightscape Mode to get better ultra-wide shots at night, while daytime ultra-wide photos are able to take full advantage of all those pixels.
This all paints the picture of a phone that can take class-leading ultra-wide shots in any condition. Hopefully these samples are indicative of final image quality rather than being the result of heavy edits.
