HMD Global hasn’t released a flagship phone since early 2019’s Nokia 9 PureView, which was a rather interesting yet flawed device. But we’ve been hearing about an upcoming flagship for months now, dubbed the Nokia 9.3 or Nokia 9.2 PureView.
Now, Nokia Power User reports that the phone could offer 8K recording capabilities, citing a source. It’s believed that 8K recording at 30fps is currently being tested on a prototype device. Furthermore, the outlet reports that HMD is working on finishing the “camera and editing algorithms for 8K.
8K recording would also be a sign that HMD is offering a Snapdragon 865 processor, as this chipset is the first Qualcomm processor to support the new recording option.
The website’s sources also report that HMD Global is improving the Pro mode and Night mode. It’s said that Pro mode could see “enhanced controls and “refined algorithms, while Night mode could benefit from optical image stabilization and bigger pixels.
Furthermore, Zeiss is apparently working with HMD to bring exclusive effects to the Nokia 9.3 PureView. There’s no word on what these effects could be though.
We’d definitely recommend you take these latest supposed leaks with a healthy helping of salt though. After all, you’d expect 8K recording on a 2020 flagship (although some brands have opted for 4K or 6K), and some of the other improvements sound pretty vague.
In any event, more prominent leaks point to an in-display selfie camera, a 64MP and/or 108MP rear camera, and a 120Hz screen. You can check out our Nokia 9.2/9.3 PureView rumor hub at the previous link.
