We’ve been hearing about the Nokia 9.2 PureView for months now, with the flagship previously said to be delayed from the first half of the year to H2 2020.
Now, a source has told NokiaPowerUser that the upcoming HMD phone will have a penta-camera setup featuring some high resolution cameras. More specifically, the source says the phone will pack a 64MP main camera with OIS, and a 108MP ultra-wide shooter.
A high-resolution ultra-wide camera would theoretically enable better ultra-wide shots in low light, as the sensor can deliver 27MP or 12MP pixel-binned shots when the sun goes down. But 108MP certainly sounds a bit much when the likes of the Oppo Find X2 Pro are using 48MP ultra-wide cameras and Huawei is using 40MP sensors.
The outlet’s tipster also says the Nokia 9.2 PureView will offer depth, macro, and telephoto cameras, and won’t have Light technology. This would be a welcome change from the Light-powered Nokia 9 PureView, which used three monochrome cameras and two color cameras for better HDR and more granular depth effects. But this setup unfortunately lacked ultra-wide and telephoto capabilities.
Before you go all-in on this latest report, it’s worth noting that NokiaPowerUser says this didn’t come from their reliable sources. So you should definitely take this with a bag of salt.
Other rumored Nokia 9.2 PureView specs include a Snapdragon 865 processor, and an in-house chip for image processing. Frequent leaker Nokia_anew also previously claimed that HMD Global is testing an in-display selfie camera on the upcoming phone.
