- A new report out of China points to the Mi Mix 4 still being in the works.
- It’s believed that a newly appointed executive will handle the phone’s development and launch.
- However, Xiaomi previously said that the Mi Mix Alpha was the only Mix phone in the works.
Xiaomi’s Mi Mix series has always been one of the most innovative smartphone lines out there. It popularized the full-screen design trend with the first Mi Mix and then the Mi Mix Alpha’s gorgeous wraparound display took that to the next level.
Sadly, the Mi Mix Alpha is just a concept, making the 2019 Mi Mix 3 5G the last real phone in the Mix series. It borrowed the slider design from its predecessor and since its launch, hope has been alive for a successor. Now, it looks like we can keep that fire burning for the Mi Mix 4 for a little longer.
According to a new report by Chinese publication MyDrivers, Xiaomi’s newly appointed VP and Chief Marketing Officer, Yang Zhe will apparently hit the ground running by working on the development and launch of the Mi Mix 4.
The website also claims that the Mi Mix 4 will go up against Huawei’s P40 series, making it a premium flagship.
The report also reiterates previously rumored specs such as a 120Hz curved display and 40W wireless charging. It suggests there might be two models of the phone, including a Pro version. However, we suggest you don’t take these specs home just yet because there’s very little in terms of reliable information out there about the Mi Mix 4.
For all we know, this is yet another shot-in-the-dark rumor and there’s no Mix 4 on the way. Last year, a Xiaomi executive had said that the Mix Alpha is the only Mix series phone that the company is developing. So there’s not much to go on here, except for this latest rumor which offers nothing but a glimmer of hope.
