Alienware notebooks are getting a big upgrade soon. As part of its CES 2021 reveals, Dell’s gaming division has announced new R4 versions of its m15 and m17 gaming notebooks. Both laptops will have Nvidia’s next-gen GeForce RTX 30 series mobile GPUs inside.
Alienware says the new GPUs have been made with 12-phase graphics voltage regulation for extended gaming marathons. Both notebooks also support Alienware Cryo-Tech vapor chamber technology to keep the laptops cool for long hours of gameplay. The notebooks also have HDMI ports that support connecting to big TVs with the new HDMI 2.1 standard. That means you can display content on your TV at 4K resolutions at 120Hz. Both notebooks come in Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon colors and will go on sale on January 26.

The Alienware m15 R4 has a 15.6-inch display with options for either a 1,920 x 1,080 300Hz display, or an OLED 3,840 x 2,160 60Hz display with Tobii eye-tracking technology. It supports up to 4TB of storage and up to 32GB of RAM. You can put in either the Intel 10th Generation Core i7-10870H CPU or the Core i9-10980HK chip. Depending on the configuration, the notebook weighs either 4.65 pounds or 5.5 pounds. You also get three USB ports, a USB-C port, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, a MiniDisplay port, and a microSD card slot. The starting price for the notebook is $2,149.99.
The updated 17.3-inch Alienware m17 R4 notebook has an option to put in a 360Hz 1,920 x 1,080 display for smoother graphics for games that support high refresh rates. Display options also include a 1,920 x 1,080 144Hz screen and one with an OLED 3,840 x 2,160 60Hz display with Tobii eye-tracking technology. The hardware options are the same as the m15 R4. The m17’s starting price is also $2,149.99.
In addition to the new Alienware notebooks, the company has just launched a new version of its Alienware Aurora desktop PC. The Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R10 has options to include AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 Series CPUs inside, all the way up to the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core processor with a maximum clock speed of 4.9GHz. You have the choice of putting in the latest AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs inside.
The new desktop supports up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 4TB of storage. It also has its own airflow design and vapor chamber technology that helps to keep it overheating. Available in Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon colors, the desktop is on sale today with a starting price of $1,079.99.
