- A new leak suggests that the ROG Phone 4 will pack much faster charging.
- It’s also claimed that the phone will maintain a 6,000mAh battery.
The Asus ROG Phone 3 was among the beefiest Android phones of 2020, packing plenty of power, a 120Hz OLED screen, and a 6,000mAh battery. The one downside to the battery size is that it takes the phone over 100 minutes to fully charge via 30W wired charging.
Fortunately, Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station reports that the Asus ROG Phone 4 will gain 60W or 65W charging when it launches later this year. They further claim that the device will maintain a 6,000mAh battery size, so it stands to reason that we could see charging times under an hour. Check out the post below.
There’s no word on what this means for battery health over time, as faster charging usually results in faster battery degradation. However, we’ve seen the likes of Oppo promise that the battery in the 65W-toting Ace 2 will still maintain over 90% capacity after 800 cycles (i.e. roughly two years).Â
Digital Chat Station also reports that the new Red Magic 6 gaming phone will pack a 4,500mAh battery with 120W+ charging, while echoing official teases that the the Black Shark 4 will offer 120W+ charging and a 4,500mAh battery too.

The tipster alleges that all three phones are due in the first half of 2021, which would be an early release for the ROG Phone 4 in particular. Asus has traditionally launched the ROG Phone series in the second half of each year, going back to the original device.
Otherwise, we’re expecting the Asus ROG Phone 4 to pack a high refresh rate OLED screen, Snapdragon 888 series processor, and shoulder triggers of some kind. What would you like to see from gaming phones in 2021? Take our poll above!
