Update, July 16 2020 (1:30AM ET): OnePlus confirmed earlier this week that OnePlus Buds are coming, then gave us a sneak peek at the design and confirmed battery details. Now, the firm has revealed to TechRadar that the new audio accessory will offer Warp Charge technology.
More specifically, OnePlus Buds project manager Jay Liu told the outlet that the case can go from zero to ten hours of use in just ten minutes. Furthermore, Liu claims that the case can be fast-charged with any charging adapter greater than 10W and doesn’t require a special cable to do so.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the case won’t support wireless charging. “That would add to the cost of the earbuds, the executive was quoted as saying.
In any event, OnePlus confirmed earlier this week that the OnePlus Buds will offer over seven hours of continuous playback, and can be charged just over three times via the case. This equates to a total of 30 hours of playback. So the combination of fast charging and solid endurance should be a good one.
Original article, July 13 2020 (8:25AM ET): OnePlus launched the Bullets Wireless Z earlier this year, but fans have also been looking forward to true wireless (TWS) earphones from the firm. Now, the Chinese brand has announced that it will indeed be offering OnePlus Buds later this month.
OnePlus sent out a press release to media, saying it will reveal its first TWS earphones alongside the OnePlus Nord on July 21.
“Our users are looking for the right combination of great sound quality, seamless connectivity, and easy-to-use experience. That’s exactly what the OnePlus Buds will deliver, company co-founder Pete Lau noted in the release.
There’s no word on any other details, but OnePlus will undoubtedly need to deliver a standout product as the true wireless space is increasingly crowded.
The OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z offered fantastic endurance, an affordable price, and fast charging to stand out from the pack. So here’s hoping the OnePlus Buds don’t compromise in these areas too much.
