Your Reader’s Choice winner is the OnePlus 8 Pro
When all was said and done, with 45,000 votes cast, we had a very clear winner. At every stage of the voting, the OnePlus 8 Pro was in the lead, whether in the initial voting with a dozen or so other finalists or in our top four or grand final. That makes the OnePlus 8 Pro the winner of both Android Authority‘s Editor’s Choice title but also the Reader’s Choice crown. Not a bad haul for Best of Android: Mid-2020. Well done, OnePlus.
The OnePlus 8 Pro won both the Reader’s Choice and Editor’s Choice awards in Best of Android: Mid-2020.
Let’s break down the votes.
In our site poll, the OnePlus 8 Pro took off with a huge lead, securing almost 40% of the vote even with 15 other devices in the running. Our eventual Reader’s Choice runner-up, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, came in second on the site poll with 10.6% of the vote. The Galaxy S20 Plus was hot on its heels at 9.9% and the Oppo Find X2 Pro at 5.9%. (Fifth spot went to the regular OnePlus 8 with 5.5%, followed by the LG V60 with 5.1%, then the Poco F2 Pro with 4.4%, and the Huawei P40 Pro Plus with 4.1%.)
We then took our top four — the OnePlus 8 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Oppo Find X2 Pro — to our social channels. Because YouTube and Twitter allow us to post polls with four options, we started there. With over 28,000 votes between the two platforms, our result was again pretty conclusive. The OnePlus 8 Pro scored 44.1% of the vote on Twitter and 55% of the vote on YouTube. The S20 Ultra came in second on both platforms with 25.3% and 22% of the vote, respectively. The S20 Plus took third place overall.
Finally, we turned to Instagram and Facebook for our grand finale. By this point, we weren’t expecting an upset and we didn’t get one. The OnePlus 8 Pro definitively secured first place on both platforms again. We saw a very similar split again, with the OnePlus 8 Pro securing 55% on Facebook to the S20 Ultra’s 45%, and 61% on Instagram vs the Ultra’s 39%. There was no doubt: the OnePlus 8 Pro was your clear favorite for Best of Android: Mid-2020 Reader’s Choice.
If we look at the accumulated totals from every vote combined, the OnePlus 8 Pro secured an impressive 54% of the vote and the S20 Ultra 27%. Here are our overall Reader’ Choice placings:

One last reminder that eligibility in Best of Android: Mid-2020 was restricted to devices that hit shelves before June 30, 2020, which is why the Sony Xperia 1 II, Asus ROG Phone 3, OnePlus Nord, and others didn’t make it into the voting. You’ll be able to vote for them in our full-year Best of Android awards.
