- Asus teased a new ROG Phone in a teaser it shared on Weibo.
- The post shows the silhouette of a phone and a formation of stars.
- No release date, but the early tease suggests we could see something sooner rather than later.
It looks like a new ROG phone is on the way, and it could come a lot sooner than the ROG Phone 3 did in 2020. In a Weibo post spotted by GizChina, Asus teased the existence of what looks like an all-screen ROG Phone — the Republic of Gamers branding gives it away. At the moment, we can’t say for sure if we’re looking at the ROG Phone 4 (or ROG Phone 5, if the company decides to skip the number four because of its unlucky connotations in Chinese culture).
The formation of stars pictured behind the silhouette of the phone matches most closely with the Aries constellation. If you want to read entirely too much into the teaser, its inclusion could suggest a release date. Maybe Asus plans to announce the phone in time for the spring equinox? That would line up with GizChina’s suggestion that Asus plans to update the ROG Phone 3 sooner rather than later. Either way, Asus is likely to provide more concrete details in the coming weeks.

As for what kind of specs we can expect, a benchmark uploaded to the GeekBench in December suggested the company was working on a device with a Snapdragon 888 processor, at least 8GB of RAM and Android 11. Beyond that, what’s clear is a new ROG Phone has big shoes to fill. Its predecessor was a major step forward for Asus. It finally made a phone that was not only great for gamers, but one that anyone could find something to like about.
