You won’t have to spend much to get fitness-friendly wireless earbuds from a major brand. Adidas has just released its RPD-01 workout buds in the US for $99. They’re certainly not the most inexpensive Bluetooth earbuds we’ve seen, but they promise good value for runners and anyone else who wants audio that can survive vigorous exercise.
The behind-the-neck design will be familiar if you’re used to designs like BeatsX, but Adidas is touting a more capable design. In addition to IPX4-rated sweat resistance, they last for up to 12 hours on a charge. You might not have to charge them for a few workout sessions, then. The sportswear maker also touts speedy USB-C charging for when you need to soundtrack your routine in a hurry.

The buds also include ergonomic eartips and wings to remain steady, and there’s a customizable action button along with two others for controlling playback. Adidas promises a neckband that should stay in place regardless of your activity.
You can buy the RPD-01 now in Green Tint, Light Grey, and Night Grey colors that unsurprisingly coordinate with Adidas’ fitness apparel.
While it’s too soon to say if Adidas’ buds sound any better than the competition, they may be a better choice than BeatsX and others if you’re mainly interested in durability and stability. They’re a better choice for some activities than the RPT-01 over-ears, which are better-suited to weight training. We’d add that the RPD-01 has a good pedigree. The buds are the work of Zound, best known for its work on audio gear from Urbanears and Marshall.
