- OnePlus has revealed 10 other shortlisted names for its Android skin, eventually choosing OxygenOS.
- Some of the standout names include CosmOS, StratOS, and OnePlus ROM.
OnePlus first launched its OxygenOS Android skin in 2015, replacing the Cyanogen OS skin seen on 2014’s OnePlus One. It’s become one of the better Android overlays since then, offering a visual style that sticks closely to stock Android while still bringing quite a few features.
OnePlus originally held a naming contest for the Android skin back in 2015, with OxygenOS obviously winning. But what were the other names in consideration? Well, the company just tweeted 10 other shortlisted names for the skin. Check them out below.
- Opus
- Nomad OS
- CosmOS
- Muse
- Karma
- OnePlus ROM
- StratOS
- Carbon
- ElementOS
- DaVinci
I don’t know about you, but I like the look of CosmOS and StratOS in particular as they smartly incorporate the ‘OS’ part of the name. These names probably look better than they would actually sound though, given the need to pronounce each letter in “OS.
Nevertheless, I think OxygenOS is a pretty good name anyway. And the firm is gearing up to launch OxygenOS 11 soon, offering features like always-on display, new animations, and a better dark mode.
